More Success For The Players!

As we begin our new season, and look forward to our next pantomime (all the details coming soon!), the Hawarden Players again attended the CCTA awards evening, where am-dram groups from the area come together to reflect on the past 12 months in local theatre.

The Hawarden Players were once again thrilled to receive lots of positive feedback from the adjudicators that came to watch both Alice in Jungleland: The Panto, and our summer play Surprise Package.

Several members of the group were nominated for awards through the course of the evening, and we are very proud to announce some winners:

Denise Garland was the recipient of our first award, for her dedication and consistent hard work in costuming the group over the years, all while performing in acting roles, and being the group secretary!

Fiona Burdsall and Kevin Dye were presented awards for their roles as The Mad Hatter, and Dame Dolly respectively within in Alice In Jungleland, as well as co-writing the script!

And finally….

The Hawarden Players were presented with a special award for our community spirit!  The group are very proud to have received this accolade, as we appreciate more than ever the attendance, support and efforts of the local area for every performance we hold at the Hawarden Institute, and every event we attend during the year.

The next thing to do on the Hawarden Players agenda, is tell you all about this years pantomime, something we will be doing very soon!  Oh yes we will!!

One Week To Go.

There’s only 7 Days to go until the Hawarden Players take to the stage for their performance of ‘Surprise Package’, and its full steam ahead!

The set is in place, the group are running the entire show in rehearsals, and the final few notes are being given by the director, to ensure this is the best show the group have ever put on!

This weekend sees out lights getting set, and our sound getting programmed, leaving the cast to enjoy their final dress rehearsals in preparation for opening night, Thursday 24th July!

Surprise Package is a hysterical farce, focusing on the trials and tribulations of the Tinsley family’s dubiously booked package holiday to Pension Maria in Formentera, performed brilliantly by the group, under the direction of Fiona Burdsall.

With the laughs coming thick and fast from the opening moments, and the return of a licensed bar, this guarantees to put you in the summer holiday spirit

Tickets for performances taking place on Thursday 24th, Friday 25th, and Saturday 26th July 2014 are on sale for just £7 from our TICKETS PAGE.

In the meantime, here are a few pictures of our final rehearsals:

Surprise Package

For most, a holiday away from all the trials and tribulations of everyday home life, basking in the sun would be the perfect way to spend a few days.  As the Hawarden Players upcoming production of “Surprise Package” will prove, this is not the case for one family in particular.

From the moment they touched down, and grandma lost her shoe getting off the plane, the Tinsley’s face drama after drama throughout their package deal to “Pension Maria” in Formentera.  Smitten Ron has booked his family into the same hotel as his recently separated girlfriend, Gloria, meanwhile, the spark in his own mother and father’s marriage is dwindling.  Fellow holiday maker, Fritz ends up in the most unlikely of love triangles, when all he wants is to sort the problem of constant wind in his pipes as opposed to the water he was expecting!  Staff members Juanito and Rosita get more than they bargained for as they end up in everyone’s affairs and the language barriers between all parties aren’t helping matters in the least! Come and watch as confusion reigns supreme,  passion ignites, tempers flare,  a storm brews, and grandma loses her teeth!  Maybe they should have gone to Blackpool after all!

Following her hugely successful take on “Happiest Days of Your Life”, Hawarden Players chairperson, Fiona Burdsall, is once again directing the group in this hilariously fast paced farce, which promises to keep the laughs coming all night with a hugely talented cast and licensed bar getting you perfectly into the summer holiday spirit!

Performances of “Surprise Package” take place 24th, 25th and 26th July 2014, at the Hawarden Institute, Glynne Way, Hawarden.  Doors and bar open at 7.00pm, with the performance taking place at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale right now for just £7 from our TICKETS PAGE or by calling 01244 531085
