Wild West: The Panto – January 2012

Following the recent successes of “Cinderella” and “The Happiest Days of Your Life”, award winning drama group, the Hawarden Players, are taking a walk on the wild side for their next production: ‘Wild West: The Panto’, and invite you to don your cowboy hat and boots, and join them on the journey .

Written by Fiona Burdsall, and directed by Daniel Ellis and Jane Ainscough, the panto follows our hero, young cowboy Jo, and his somewhat unusual sidekick on their adventures and encounters in the dusty town of Big Gulp and beyond.
“Rehearsals for ‘Wild West: The Panto’ have been a joy to be a part of, and I hope that will shine through when we come to perform our show” said Dan Ellis, co-director. “How many other productions in the Flintshire area can boast they have cowboys, Indians, Mexicans, an outrageous dame and a pantomime classic character of the four legged variety, all coming together to give an audience a hilarious, and uplifting 3 hours of fun they will never forget? Our show has everything you have come to expect from a panto and more. Songs that you know and love; dances that will get you boogying out of your seats, and a few surprising twists along the way! We are fresh off winning an award for our ‘Outstanding Endeavour in Community Theatre’ and are extremely enthused by the support shown by the local areas in supporting the Hawarden Players. Anyone who has ever witnessed one of our plays or pantomimes would agree they leave with a huge smile on their face, and this panto will definitely leave you wanting more!”

Our 2026 Play will be The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of Macbeth, written by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin.

This is a comedy – please don’t arrive expecting serious interpretations of the works of William Shakespeare, instead expect hilarity and mistakes galore!

The Farndale ladies have entered a drama festival but unfortunately everything that could possibly go wrong does. Their take on the Scottish Play can only be described as unique and highly emotional.
